Party time!

In which our intrepid life explorer partied maybe just a little too hard!?!

It’s been an interesting, and wholly enjoyable week this past week. Preparation work for the walk took a bit of a back seat for a few days and I partied like it was 1999 all over again!

Thanks to the wonderful Dionne, who I used to work with – I don’t think I’ll ever get used to saying that, especially as we’d worked together for the best part of 10 years! – I went out Wednesday night with a bunch from work for drinks and food. It was a great evening and really nice to see the old bunch after what was a bit of a shite last week due to redundancies and all that crap.

Thursday, after popping home from Dionne’s place and collecting some deliveries that had been attempted while I was off having fun, I drove up to Stourbridge to visit a friend (Ann) and to go out for the night with her and some of her chums – more beer! There was a good reason for this, the Silhouettes were playing in Wolverhampton who Ann knows quite well, and after she pointed me toward their myspace page last week I just had to go.  Double bonus for the night was that one of the support bands, Talk, were great too. Another cracking night out!

I’ve got some photos from the gig that I need to sort out so hopefully I’ll be checking them out and, if any of them are ok, I’ll add them to the site soon.

If that wasn’t enough partying for one person, Russ and Matt drove down for the weekend on Friday and we went out for beer and curry…something I haven’t done in what seems like a lifetime! It…was…great!

Saturday was a day of walking, talking and drinking! I think there’s a pattern forming here? Anyone would think it’s my Birthday or something?! Anyway, some of us met up in London for one of our [in]famous pub crawls, where we visited 12 pubs (11 on the list and an extra Brucie bonus). Shame it rained nearly all day but that never dampened the party spirit! A great day out and always great to catch up with friends I haven’t seen in a while.

Again, photos were taken throughout the day so they’ll be sorted out and posted here soon.

And here we are, the beginning of another week. I’ve got to knuckle down with more preparation work for the walk this week so things may be quiet again. I’m getting there; the kit list has been attacked quite well these past few weeks and I’ve got a first draft overview of the route sorted out too – first batch of maps are on order! Don’t forget, if you want to keep up with what’s going on then head on over to Walking in my Shoes for all the latest news on how I’m getting on with everything related to the walk.

Oh, and while I’m on the subject, please please please please please, if you’ve not sponsored me yet please head on over to my Just Giving page and help me raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Spread the word to all your friends and family; every penny counts!

There’s a viscous rumour going round that I’ll be doing the walk in a dress if I reach my £2000 target. We’ll never find out if I don’t make the target before the walk will we? 41 days and counting…!!!
