Ticking those items off the list

In which our intrepid life explorer spent the afternoon in Kent.

So I made a shooting visit  down to Kent today, which turned out to be very productive. I’ve finally started to sort out mum’s headstone with the stone masons. I’m sorry it’s taken so long to sort out but circumstances beyond my control kind of got in the way, and it’s only now that I’ve got the time as I’m no longer working that I’m making my way down the list of outstanding things to do – this being at the very top of said list!

Hopefully I’ll receive their written quote for the work within a week or so and then they can get on and sort it out. Should all be done before the end of the month I should think, which will lift a heavy weight from my shoulders I can tell you.

Also, it was Alice’s parent’s evening at her school so I went and had a chat with her teacher. This was the first time I’d been to her school and it looked ok. Yes, the paintwork could do with a bit of a refresh but overall it looked like a really nice school.

Her teacher was really nice too and we had a good chat about how Alice was doing, and I’m pleased to say it was a glowing report! She’s doing really well with her literacy and numeracy, something I’ve certainly seen improving since she started that’s for sure.

They said she’s always got a smile on her face and really gets involved, always willing to put her hand up and answer questions and to say her piece. I have no idea where she gets that from?! I’m really pleased she seems to have settled in at the school so well and has made some nice friends too.

It would seem that I’m a little bit famous in the class as Alice talks about me all the time, especially when she’s gotten back from a weekend with me. This was lovely to hear, although it was somewhat embarrassing I can tell you. She also tells them how many sleeps are left before she sees me next, which is just great. I guess that helps her with her numbers and subtraction, which isn’t a bad thing!

All in all a very productive day and I feel so much better now that the work towards sorting the grave out has finally begun.
